WHO WE ARE

The Great Outdoor Transportation Company (GOTCO) was founded in 1997 to provide a recreation based transportation service to the Sublette County area. It was formerly run through the Great Outdoor Shop. In 2015 Kate & Lwyn Dahl purchased the company and made it an institution in the area for outdoors people. In 2020, Down River Shuttles (owned and operated by the Costello family) purchased GOTCO and merged the two companies. In 2025 the Turner Family bought the company. We are all proud to be local owners of this great service and to provide the best possible experience to all Sublette County outdoor enthusiasts. GOTCO is independently owned and operated, and is based in Pinedale, Wyoming at the foot of the incomparable Wind River Range.

GOTCO is permitted with the Bridger-Teton National Forest, Bureau of Land Management, Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge, and Wyoming Dept. of Transportation.

Cancellation Policy: We want to take a moment to explain our 50% non-refundable policy. This policy isn’t implemented lightly but rather stems from substantial operational commitments we make on behalf of every customer from the moment a booking is confirmed.

Our Operational Commitments Include:

Insurance Coverage: We maintain comprehensive insurance policies to protect our customers, equipment, and operations. These premiums represent a significant ongoing expense that must be paid regardless of whether individual trips proceed as planned.

Vehicle Maintenance & Readiness: Our fleet requires continuous maintenance, inspections, and preparation to ensure safety and reliability. Thes costs are incurred well in advance of each trip to guarantee that our equipment meets the highest standards.

Permits & Licensing: We secure necessary permits from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Forest Service to run a legal business in these areas. These permits involve both fees and advance planning that cannot be recovered when trips are cancelled.

Guaranteed Operations: Perhaps most importantly, our ability to continue providing services to all our customers depends on having guaranteed funds to cover these essential operational costs. Without this financial stability, we would be unable to maintain the quality and reliability that our customers expect and deserve.

We recognize that natural disasters and other unforeseen circumstances are completely beyond your control, and we wish we could absorb these costs entirely. However, our policy ensures that we can continue to operate and serve our customers even when external forces disrupt individual bookings.
